Just when I thought I was in the clear, with my new installation of Pro Tools, my machine locked up while programming BFD II drums inside of Pro Tools. So, I went back to Avid's page for more "optimization" guidance and dug a little deeper into my BIOS settings this time.

I thought I had "Turbo" disabled. But, I did not. I found the actual control a few tabs over under "Advanced Frequency Settings" and then under "Advanced CPU Core Features. It was there that I found Intel Turbo Boost Technology and "Disabled" it for good. Also, a few lines down I finally located the "C3 / C6 State Support" and disabled that for good as well.

At the time I had no idea what C3/C6 was. I just knew it was evil for Pro Tools. But, after a quick online search I found out it's basically a control for shutting down the processor to save power. Well, now my power meter can keep spinning and my Pro Tools can keep running!
